Job Title: Principal
Work Location: Trinity Christian School, Sharpsburg
Division/Department: High School
Reports to: Assistant Head of School
Primary Function:
- Provides leadership for the direction, supervision and coordination of the school administrative operations, the instructional programs, and assigned personnel.
- Provides Christian Leadership to staff, students, and their families.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership for the development and implementation of instructional programs based upon the adopted curriculum.
- Provides leadership and encouragement to staff and students in their achievement of the basic skills essential to attaining high academic goals and in their walk with Christ.
- Provides for the maintenance of sound discipline consistent with establishing a positive school environment and achieving the maximum time on task for students and staff.
- Provides for effective guidance and counseling services for all students.
- Establishes and maintains effective communication with parents and the community encouraging their participation and support.
- Provides for the equitable direction, supervision, and evaluation of assigned certified and classified personnel.
- Provides leadership for the continuing professional development of the certified staff.
- Makes maximum use of available auxiliary resources in achieving the instructional goals of the school.
- Insures the timely and efficient implementation and application of laws, policies, and procedures governing the operations of the school.
- Provides for the prompt and accurate maintenance of all records and submission of all reports.
- Participates in all school approved evaluation programs and related professional development activities.
Specific Duties:
- Works with the school staff in developing short and long range goals and seeking solutions to problems.
- Establishes priorities, sets realistic goals, and follows projects through to conclusion.
- Reaches high quality decisions based upon logical conclusions derived from a thorough review of available data.
- Inspires enthusiasm, individual initiative, and self-confidence in employees.
- Is supportive and reaffirming to all children, parents, and employees.
- Promotes professional pride and high standards of ethical conduct.
- Delegates authority to others allowing latitude for efficiently accomplishing the assigned task.
- Is accessible to staff members, parents, students, and the community.
- Communicates positive, clearly defined expectations to students, staff, parents, and community.
- Allocates resources consistent with established priorities and identifies needs.
- Produces clear and concise oral and written communications.
• Demonstrates the highest personal commitment to assigned responsibilities providing Christian leadership by example.
Spiritual Requirements:
- All employees of Trinity Christian School, regardless of their role, are expected to be born again believers and followers of Jesus Christ, and as such, are expected to maintain an active, close walk with the Lord Jesus through a healthy, daily devotional life and faithful local church attendance, being a role model for students, in word and deed, of a disciple of Christ.
- All employees are required to agree with and abide by the Statement of Faith and to avoid divisive and controversial doctrines not upheld by the school Statement of Faith when in conversations with students and the school community.
- All employees are expected to behave ethically in all respects as required by God’s Word and as defined by the Georgia Code of Ethics for Educators.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- College Degree/Masters preferred.
- Successful teaching and leadership experiences preferably at the level of the position to which assigned.
- Able to provide spiritual leadership to students and staff.
- Educational background and practical knowledge of the most effective practices in curriculum, instructional management and planning, child development, and general school administration.
- Proficiency required in oral and written communication, interpersonal relations, and competency in organizing, planning, and evaluating.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to perform the essential job functions safely and successfully consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
