POSITION: Usher

LOCATION: San Francisco, CA

HOURS: Part Time, including nights, weekends, and holidays

COMPENSATION: $20.02 Hourly at Golden Gate/Orpheum; $20.72 Hourly at Curran

ABOUT THE POSITION

• Be amenable to assigned usher duties in any area of the theatre and/or re-assignments.  

• Politely greet guests, convey general theatre policy information.

• Provide directions to seating areas on all levels (balcony, loge/mezzanine, or orchestra), restrooms, and amenities.

• Aid guests with special needs (wheelchair, difficulty with stairs). 

• Be watchful and enforce theatre policies in a courteous manner.

• Liaise with Security Staff and Head Usher/House Manager to deescalate potential problems.

• Be continuously alert to your surroundings and be proactive for guests that may be reluctant to ask for assistance.

PEOPLE, PLACES, and THINGS

• Work at all three venues: Orpheum, Golden Gate, and Curran theatres.
• Work directly with patrons of all demographics.
• Collaborate with House Management, Security, and Food & Beverage teams.
• Use our online scheduling program to submit availability and see assigned shifts.

EXPERIENCE and SKILLS

• Previous paid ushering experience desired, but not required.  

• Exemplary customer service skills. 

• Ability to stand on feet for 3-4 hours at a time. 

• Knowledge of live theatre etiquette and productions. 

• Move or lift items weighing up to 15 pounds (tables, signs, stanchions, etc.)

COMPETENCIES

• Must be capable of following all laws, building codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management, and emergency procedures are followed.

• Ushers will be expected to join the usher union, IATSE Local B18 within three months after their start date.
