\nThis position is responsible for directing and supervising all administrative and clinical
\noperations of the Pharmacy services provided at BRH. Positions assigned to this band interpret and carry out the
\nprogram or objectives set forth by a Senior Leader or C-Suite Executive and have substantial authority and
\nindependence for decisions related to allocating resources, staff oversight, budget development, department policy
\nand procedures, and the administrative and financial success of their assigned areas.
\nComplexity of Work: This position oversees pharmacy services with impact to the whole hospital. Supervision is
\nexercised over professional, licensed staff. Work performed requires a diverse set of knowledge, skills, and abilities.
\nDesired Qualifications:
\nEducation: Graduation of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education.
\nExperience(s): A minimum of five years of current Pharmacist experience. Two years of supervisory/management
\nexperience is preferred.
\nLicense(s): Current State of Alaska Pharmacist License.
\nCertification(s): Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS. Position Summary describes the overall purpose of this position. Using the space below provide a few sentences

\nThe Pharmacy Director supervises the pharmacy department including personnel and services provided by the
\ndepartment. The Director works with other hospital departments and the medical staff. The Director will have a
\nworking relationship with pharmaceutical vendors and the general public when called upon.
\nThe Pharmacy Director will act as a pharmacist as needed to ensure proper coverage for the department and
\nparticipate in other hospital committees and teams as appropriate.

\nLeadership • Develops and mentors staff: Encourages staff to develop professionally through ongoing
\neducation, certification, and job advancement; provides these opportunities in a fiscally
\nresponsible manner; actively participates in the Pharmacy orientation process for all new
\nhires; participates actively when patient care decisions are made; keeps individual skills
\nand knowledge base current; identifies opportunities for improvement and uses them as
\nlearning situations for coordinators/staff; assures staff remains competent. Is able to
\ncoach and discipline constructively within BRH CARE Values as well as maintain open
\ncommunication and a climate of mutual respect when dealing with all staff. • Assists with Pharmacy coverage as needed to ensure continuity of operations for
\nPharmacy services. • Maintains a working knowledge of BRHs 340B drug pricing program, collaborates on
\ngrowth of 340 B programs and receives relevant 340B training from the Compliance
\nOfficer, at least annually. • Communicates the Mission, Vision, C.A.R.E. values, Code of Conduct and goals of the facility
\nFinancial Management • Budget: Prepares and manages Pharmacy budget; questions processes regarding
\nbudget; develops and uses staffing grids; supply utilization is within budgetary
\nparameters. • Uses creative ideas & evaluates changing health care environment to identify market
\ngaps that could offer new possibilities for revenue expansion. Develops solutions for
\ngenerating revenue/cost containment. Develops business plans for new ventures and
\nimplements the programs according to the plan in a fiscally responsible manner;
\nmaintains accountability to Senior Leaders for programs.
\nQuality Management • Performance Improvement: Articulates expectations for staff; holds huddles with staff to
\ncommunicate changes and clarify issues; negotiates department needs with other
\ndepartments; identifies and responds to PI opportunities; participates on PI teams; uses
\ndata to make appropriate decisions and to guide others in their own PI projects
\nHuman Resource Management • Hiring: Hires the right people; turnover rates appropriate as per benchmarks;
\nterminates accordingto expected protocol. • Scheduling/Payroll: Performs or oversees staff scheduling functions and adjusts unit
\nschedules as appropriate; performs or oversees payroll review and approval processes;
