General Requirements

  • Submit an application and successfully complete the screening/interview process.
  • Successfully pass a criminal background and sex-offender registry check.
  • Obtain necessary training/certifications prior to arriving at camp as required by desired position (lifeguard, CHA, WFA/WFR, RN, EMT, etc.).
  • Work required dates, including pre-camp staff training (listed below).

All staff must be at least 18 years old and be at least one year out of high school.

Medical Staff PositionsMedical Staff:

The medical facility at Camp Horizons is called Camper Care (CC). Camper Care staff members are vital to the well-being of our campers and staff during the summer. All members of the medical staff are expected to have compassion for our campers and staff as well as respect for the privacy and confidentiality of everyone. Our medical staff consists of RNs, EMTs, or student nurses. Our Camper Care staff is responsible for keeping our camp family healthy. Our RNs, EMTs, and student nurses have clinic hours after each meal and before bedtime to distribute medications and treat ill campers and staff.

One member of the Camper Care staff is always at CC in case of an emergency. Medical staff members ensure practices are in place to prevent medical concerns (i.e. keeping campers hydrated!), manage and dispense medications, treat ill campers and staff, relay information between parents and doctors, coordinate all medical emergencies, and take campers and staff to the clinic in town when needed.

Camper Care Specialist: . Caring individuals that operate our on-site Medical Facility (Camper Care) by supervising all aspects of staff and camper medication distribution; provided care and treatment up to the level trained/ certified and manages all required paperwork, documentation, and reporting in a timely manner. This is a live-in position. (housing provided within the Camper Care building) Reports to Camper Care Supervisor/Camp Director.

Employee Compensation

Camp Horizons’ pay structure is based on a flat Summer Contract Rate. This rate is calculated according to the previously agreed upon number of weeks a staff member is expected to work at camp, along with any relevant active certifications the staff member holds. This rate is broken down and paid via bi-weekly stipends with the remaining balance of the contract being paid upon completion of the of summer or previously agreed upon end date. Pay for certifications or other additional payments are added to and paid out in the end of summer balance.

Base SalariesCamper Care Staffstarts at $3600 Base Summer Contract Rate (based on 10 weeks)

Employment Dates:

June 1st – August 10th, 2025 (possible extension to August 16th)

Staff work 6 days per week with 2 hours off each day and 24 hours off each week.
