Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager II, this position serves as the State Fleet Manager responsible for the oversight and management of the State's motor vehicle fleet, the Fleet Asset Management program staff responsible for statewide policies, and the Fleet Asset Management System (FAMS).

This position is Hybrid and eligible for telework up to three days a week, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Training and Development (T&D) assignments may be considered for this position. T&D assignments are temporary assignments made for the purposes of providing career advancement opportunities to prepare permanent civil service employees for future promotions into new occupational fields.

This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code.  The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests.  The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and once per year.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in interpreting, applying, and implementing state policies and laws such as State Administrative Manual, Codes of Regulations, etc.
  • Experience in working in partnership with various state entities and stakeholders (e.g. worked on statewide projects, performed statewide policy oversight roles).
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Possess ability to operate with high degree of independence, resourcefulness, and tact.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and analytical skills to draw logical conclusions.
