Byterat is the modern data platform for battery science. We give battery teams at companies like Panasonic or Tesla the core data platform they need to innovate, securely at scale. You’ll be joining our in-person team of engineers and physicists with backgrounds from Rivian, Carnegie Mellon, Georgia Tech, U. Cambridge and other YC start-ups. Our Mission Batteries play a key role in tackling climate change. $73B was invested in US battery plants in 2022, and battery company revenue is expected to grow >5x over the next decade. Global carmakers alone are forecast to spend $515B on electric vehicle and battery R&D by 2030. But battery engineers are woefully underserved by software, relying on broken legacy products to analyze their data. Most data is never analyzed or used meaningfully. Byterat is the first platform to provide battery teams with the infrastructure they need to unlock business value from their battery data. Byterat is live in battery labs across three continents today, allowing teams to analyze data from thousands of parallel experiments and unlock previously hidden insights connecting battery design to performance. Qualifications Education : BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Experience : 4+ years in a DevOps role, with a strong background in build tools like GNU Make, CMake, Soong, Ninja, Gradle, and Bazel. Technical Skills : Proficient in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, CircleCI), and infrastructure as code (Helm, Terraform, CloudFormation). Containerization & Orchestration : Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes. Monitoring & Scripting : Expertise in monitoring tools (Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, ELK Stack) and strong scripting skills in Bash or Python. The role Manage our AWS and Elasticsearch cloud infrastructure through code and automated systems, including Kubernetes. Build, test and ship software to manage, operate and improve our high-throughput web application and data pipelines and associated cloud infrastructure. Build the operational framework for the monitoring, deployment, and maintenance of our web services and data pipelines. Architect, build, test, and ship highly-available and secure services that process and serve data at scale. Work closely with our product team to create the best system architecture for delivering key features that drive value for customers.
