Security Engineer, Otter - Austin, TX Who we are Otter offers a wide range of software and hardware solutions for restaurants. Some examples include unifying all orders across platforms (Uber Eats, Doordash etc), QR code ordering, POS, Kiosk, printers etc. The wide range of products brings an interesting set of complexity in terms of discovery and risks to reduce.
You will be a part of the Otter Security team, focussed on assessing and protecting products for our internal ops users across sales, onboarding, customer success and external customers as they go through the experience of discovering, purchasing, onboarding and upselling onto different products that Otter has to offer. We are a full stack security team, with developers and security specialists, who work hand in hand with our engineering and product teams on a mission to offer the best experience for our customers to discover and onboard onto the Otter product suite.
What are we looking for: - Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Software, Computer Systems or Networks Engineering, Engineering, or equivalent experience in a related technical field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of domain experience in the specified role.
- Individual Contribution: A track record of significant contributions in previous roles, showcasing your ability to make a meaningful impact.
- Strong ability to design and create long-lasting architecture from scratch and evolve existing systems.
- Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to collaborate with non engineering stakeholders.
What You'll Do: - Maintain and improve the 3rd party vulnerability Bill of Materials (BOM) database.
- Create a process for identifying and upgrading 3rd Party Libraries.
- Triage 3rd party libraries for relative risk as it pertains to our environment.
- Build and improve tooling for threat detection.
- Escalate threat risks to senior staff.
- Proactively identify shortcomings in existing tooling and creating novel solutions.
