MISSION

POSITION PURPOSE

• Under the supervision of a Respiratory Therapist, the youth apprentice observes, collaborates and/or performs various activities to support patient care in a hospital setting.

SITE(S)

• Froedtert Kenosha Hospital
• Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

• Current junior or senior High School student enrolled in and participating in the Youth Apprenticeship Program

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Entry Level

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Current BLS and/or CPR from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 6 months of employment.

SUPERVISES

• n/a

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

• Ability to read, write, hear, and speak the English language fluently.
• The physical, technical, and cognitive ability, as well as manual dexterity, to support the Respiratory Therapist.
• Knowledge of telephone etiquette, typing, computer, copy machine and use of a fax machine.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Demonstrates competency with specific skills that are identified on the Youth Apprenticeship Therapeutic Services Pathway.
• Under supervision of a Respiratory Therapist, courteously interacts with patients and their families/visitors #cb
