Reservation Agent - Part Time

Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Front Office Manager, this position takes reservations via telephone, fax, mail, internet or change forms for Brasstown Valley Resort.

Essential Functions:

  • Answers all incoming calls promptly in an attentive, courteous and efficient manner using good listening and communication skills to secure necessary information.
  • Maintains accurate files and reports.
  • Enter reservations into the computer error free and according to standard operating procedure.
  • Processes rooming lists without errors. Completes all changes for groups, and prepare a new rooming list after each change.
  • Checks wait-list reservations daily.
  • Uses good selling technique to up-sell special target dates when appropriate.
  • Adheres to rate control procedures based on availability and forecast occupancy as set by Front Office Manager.
  • Maintains knowledge of suite and cabin booking process.
  • Promotes an effective alternate booking service with sister hotels by actively referring other area hotels whenever we are unable to accommodate a reservation request.
  • Assists with call around to find out rates and availability.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.
  • Possess complete resort product knowledge.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to customers, guests and employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

Computer Skills: Knowledge of Opera PMS and Microsoft Office desired.
