Description
Join our team as a Public Benefits Coordinator, a new role in our criminal justice program. You will have the integral responsibility of ensuring that our individuals have successfully applied and gained access to affordable state benefits such as SNAP and Social Security Disability Income (SSDI).
What You Will Be Doing to Make a Difference in the lives of others... - Conduct intake interviews with Support Center clients to ascertain essential needs such as housing, food, healthcare, and personal finance.
- Receive information from actuarial risk/needs assessment tools to assist in determining client essential needs.
- Within a Counselor Designated Organization (CDO), be, or become a Certified Application Coordinator to submit electronic benefits applications to MassHealth.
- Access DTA Connect to submit electronic benefits applications to SNAP for the client.
- Have a mastery of eligibility requirements for SSI and SSDI and support eligible clients in their application for SSI or SSDI benefits.
- Have a mastery of eligibility requirements for veterans benefits and support eligible clients in their application for such benefits.
- Engage in continuing outreach to state agencies to develop the latest information about benefits programs.
- Engage in community outreach, as needed, to develop leads on benefit programs, whether public or private, to address unmet essential needs of clients.
- Cross train in actuarial assessment tools for risk/need, treatment planning, and contingency management protocols as needed.
- Driving is required

Requirements
- Must have experience working with/managing Social Security Disability Applications, SNAP Benefits, Housing Voucher etc.
- Associate's Degree or higher in Human Services related field required
- At least one year of experience engaging in case management activities
- Strong Computer Skills
