As a non-profit organization deeply rooted in community involvement, we have served more than 4,000 individuals annually across 8,000 square miles, spanning five counties. SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as a strategic visionary and influential leader with the skills, passion, and commitment to advance the organization’s mission, vision, purpose, and values. The CEO oversees and has ultimate accountability for the organization’s overall performance, quality, safety and delivery of care, functions, employees, and volunteers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ASSOCIATED TASKS:

  1. Strategic Vision and Leadership
  1. Oversee the administration and management of HopeWest to meet the mission, vision, purpose, and values of the organization.
  2. Cultivate a strong and transparent relationship with the HopeWest Board of Directors and its Committees and Sub-Boards to meet the obligations and effective governance of the organization.
  3. Establish and direct the organization’s strategic agenda; coordinate the development of new initiatives.
  4. Provide organizational leadership and guide leadership responsible toward attainment of strategic goals and objectives.
  5. Develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with stakeholders and partners working with HopeWest to meet its mission and support common goals.

  1. Strengthening Infrastructure and Operations
    1. Ensure the delivery of high-quality care and services while managing for current and future growth.
    2. Oversee the fiscal management of the organization including long- and short-term financial planning to assure sustainability; ensure financial controls and present an annual budget to the Board of Directors; provide regular budget statements and forecast analysis.
    3. Develop a skilled, knowledgeable, and diverse workforce capable of attaining short- and long-term strategies; ensures immediate need and long-term succession planning for key roles.
    4. Support and motivate the staff; facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and strengthen internal communication with staff throughout the organization.
    5. Create and promote a healthy culture and diverse workforce that supports consistency and accountability throughout the organization’s operations.
    6. Assures the effective development and execution of philanthropy efforts of the organization and maintains an active role with donor relations.

  1. Organizational Development
    1. Serves as the main spokesperson for the organization through media releases, conference presentations, seminars, conferences, and other opportunities for communicating activities, goals, and success of HopeWest locally and nationally.
    2. Increase and encourage employee opportunities for development and advancement.
    3. Promote awareness of the need for serious illness and end of life care to build a more educated community.

  1. Program Development
    1. Assure well-planned and timely delivery of programs through new and existing staff and external partnerships.
    2. Develop and implement standardized policies, procedures, and plans to provide consistent guidance to staff.
    3. Assure programs and organization comply with all local, state, and federal laws, and regulations.
    4. Effectively communicate operational and strategic annual and long-range organizational goals to leaders, managers, and team members to attain quality results and success in meeting objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Masters required; MSN/MBA/MHA preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of overall professional leadership experience.
  • Required non-profit experience.
  • Considerable experience working with or as a member of the Board of Directors.
  • Fiscal management expertise.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license, unlimited access to reliable transportation, and adequate automobile insurance.

COMPETENCIES & REQUIREMENTS :

  • Thorough knowledge of the serious illness, end-of-life, and bereavement industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of the healthcare industry and related trends.
  • Strong commitment to the professional development of self and team
  • Successful track record of recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to set clear priorities, delegate, guide people and systems; keen analytic, organization and critical thinking skills, which support and enable sound decision-making.
  • Excellent coalition building skills with ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders; a persuasive negotiator able to achieve consensus amongst differing opinions.
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills.
