Houston Fleeting Services is hiring for a
Port Mate in our
Channelview, TX. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting crew members and supplies, grounds keeping, and maintaining a fleet of company vehicles.
What you will be doing: - Facilitating vessel supply deliveries & maintain adequate motor vessel & facility operating supply inventory levels, first aid kits, eye wash stations, fire extinguishers, etc.
- Supervising general facility maintenance including housekeeping, plumbing, & building maintenance as needed for functionality and safety.
- Assisting and coordinating in facility groundskeeping, trash pickup, and lawn maintenance
- Coordinating company vehicle maintenance to ensure that vehicles are running smoothly
- Assisting in vessel crew changes & personnel transportation as needed
- Assisting in vessel supply deliveries and return tagged non-working items
- Picking up and delivering items needed for repair or needed from vendors
- Assisting and taking care of supply storage and maintenance of buildings, rigging yard, and vessel cages.
- Assisting in vessel maintenance support activities as directed with engineering.
- Assisting in transporting Ingram officials and other visitors as needed to and from the facility and fleet, using the Lil Push.
- Assisting other departments at site in general support--personnel, safety and training, engineering, fleet dispatch, barge dispatch, sales, and operations.
- Assisting management in compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations as directed.
- Working to support line haul vessel deliveries and maintain forklift; certified trainer requested.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management which may include servicing the shore wires and after hour deliveries.
- Assisting in MarSec Drill and training for Facility and manning main gate to check personal entering Facility.
- Coordinating mail deliveries and pickup’s at post office for all facility buildings
- Coordinating daily and weekly check off sheet records on forklifts and inspection of facility and reporting area’s that need maintenance or issues of concern in Helm.
- Assisting with fleet maintenance on boat dock and shore side shore wire replacement with fleet audits and during fleet inspections.
- Assist with Hurricane Storm Preparations.
- General upkeep of dock landing.
- Oversee Light Duty associates at all times.
Qualifications
What we’re looking for: - Ability to work 12-hour shifts; Monday – Friday schedule
- Excellent communication skills
- 4-5 years of experience required
- Must be able to work overtime
- Ability to walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to carry 50 lbs. or a regular basis
- Ability to work on-call, after business hours, and on weekends
- Forklift certification a plus
- Able to work in extreme weather (i.e., heat, cold, snow)
