The Onin Group is looking for a Python & PHP developer to complement a wacky and ingenious team in Nashville, TN. We manage & maintain many websites built in various PHP CMS frameworks. We are also developing a constantly growing series of web apps using python (Django, FastAPI, etc) and various RDBMS. Willingness to participate in crazy, company-wide, culture-building antics from time to time is a must!

About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Web Developer to join our growing technology team in Nashville, TN. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with experienced developers, learn the ins and outs of our technical environment, and contribute to the development and maintenance of internal and external web applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior developers to understand our core business domains, technical stack, and best practices.
• Participate in daily standup meetings and contribute to project discussions.
• Assist with application troubleshooting, debugging, and testing.
• Write clean, testable, and scalable code with guidance from senior team members.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical and support documentation.
• Leverage existing tools (Google Sheets, Apps Script, Looker Studio, GCP Marketplace plugins, Retool, etc.) to streamline and enhance field-facing tools.
• Work within different software development lifecycle models, adapting to project requirements.

What Were Looking For

• Experience working with PHP (especially within a CMS environment).
• Familiarity with Python (Django experience is a strong plus).
• Basic understanding of JavaScript is helpful.
• Familiarity with GitHub and version control workflows.
• Understanding of relational database management systems (RDBMS).
• Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
• Self-motivated with a collaborative mindset.
• Ability to communicate effectively within a team environment.
