The CCCD Information Technology Department has the core responsibility of providing technology support that facilitates learning, initiatives, and productivity across all academic and administrative functions. The department achieves this by providing effective means for requesting technical assistance, staffing highly skilled personnel, and applying a customer-centric approach to handling requests.
About this Position
The IT Infrastructure Analyst will play a crucial role within the Innovation & Transformation team, focusing on enhancing, maintaining, and providing support for services across administrative, classroom, and lab environments. Working with cutting-edge cloud-based and emerging technologies, the team is dedicated to modernizing and fortifying the district-wide infrastructure through continuous improvement initiatives. The goal is to achieve a more contemporary, automated, and resilient IT environment.?
As a key member of our team, you will be assisting in the installation, servicing, and maintenance of virtual servers and services within the Microsoft Azure environment. Your expertise will extend to the support and maintenance of various peripherals, including IP cameras, point-of-sale machines, access control devices, and other essential components. Additionally, your role will involve providing crucial support for software installations, utilizing management systems such as Microsoft Intune, PDQ and Jamf. Joining us means contributing to a dynamic and collaborative environment where your technical proficiency will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our systems and infrastructure.
IT Infrastructure Analyst Summary Installs, modifies, and maintains cabling systems and networks that provide connectivity among information technology infrastructure, telephony, and computers. Diagnoses and repairs wiring, cabling, and connectivity problems.
Distinguishing Career Features The IT Infrastructure Analyst is contained in the information technology career path governing data, voice, and image communications systems and equipment installation, maintenance, and repair. The IT Infrastructure Analyst requires specialized education and experience in telephony and network connections, all forms of cabling used by the District, project planning, and system configuration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Specific duties may vary among departments, divisions and jobs. Incumbents typically perform a substantial portion or all the following types of duties, as assigned:
Data Center & Servers & Virtualization & Storage 1. Installs and configures physical & cloud-based servers, storage and network devices, including operating systems, software applications and tools.
2. Provides day-to-day operational support for the physical data link, and network layers of the District's physical and virtualized environments.
3. Designs, builds, operates, and maintains on-premise and cloud-based virtual server and desktop infrastructure in accordance with the District's virtualization plan and recommended best practices.
4. Installs, configures, modifies, maintains and repairs virtual systems, servers and network equipment, hardware, operating systems, software and applications. Maintains system integrity.
5. Sets up new physical and cloud-based virtual servers to enhance capacity of network function for communication on the network.
6. Participates in developing strategies for network server data backup, including recovery and disaster recovery plans.
Management & Monitoring & Troubleshooting & Systems Center 7. System Center & Configure Manager (SCCM)
? a. Manage district wide workstations and servers
? b. Build and deploy applications, updates and operating systems
? c. Create PowerShell scripts
8. Analyzes reports from monitoring tools to be proactive in resource usage in order to recommend future growth paths and technologies.
9. Analyzes, tests and troubleshoots network devices and services, asset management, and utilization of the network management tools; monitors and analyzes network performance of the District's infrastructure and internet protocols.
10. Schedules system downtime with end users and technical staff members to facilitate hardware and software upgrades, changeovers, and backups.
11. Monitors memory usage of the network, network printing, and network technical resources. Maximizes performance and recommends upgrades as appropriate.
12. Participates in troubleshooting to resolve network hardware and operations problems, including but not limited to connectivity, internet access, electronic mail and file servers. Works with fellow staff, equipment users, vendors, and independent contractors to identify and resolve problems.
13. Ensures proper installation and configures the full range of network, telephony, and midrange devices.
Security & Compliance & Documentation 14. Documents engineering solutions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure services are delivered in an effective and efficient manner.
15. Ensures policies, procedures, rules and regulations are being met and followed according to college and District standard practices.
16. Develops and maintains up-to-date documentation supporting assigned and related areas of responsibility.
17. Develops and maintains up-to-date documentation for network infrastructure, servers, and procedures. Conveys information to co-workers as appropriate regarding network and server interface protocols.
Architecture & Design & Project Management 18. Researches, develops, and recommends solutions to current organizational challenges as it relates to virtualized infrastructures.
19. Assists with technical roadmaps for future virtual infrastructure implementation, growth, software upgrades and defines requirements.
20. Works closely with infrastructure, user support, faculty and staff to ensure implementation meets design and requirements.
Networking & Telephone & Cabling & Construction Support 21. New building construction, existing building remodels, building demolition and construction site excavating as it pertains to the Telecommunications and UC systems services and infrastructure.
22. Evaluate engineering blueprints and diagrams.
23. Effectively communicate necessary changes to blueprints, diagrams and designs.
24. Overseeing the distribution of service requests including emergency dispatch of technicians/analysts.
25. Maintain inventories (parts, equipment, crash kits and right to use (RTU) software).
26. Performs other related duties as assigned that support the objective of the position.
27. Required to abide by all District policies and procedures including Board Policy 3050 - Code of Professional Ethics.
Qualifications and Physical Demands Knowledge and Skills 1. Requires expert knowledge with physical and virtual server(s) installation and configuration including but not limited to Windows, Linux, VMware ESXi, etc.
2. Requires expert knowledge of network service management such as Active Directory, print services, Exchange services, firewalls, system backup solutions, etc.
3. Requires specialized knowledge of storage solutions and capabilities.
4. Requires in-depth knowledge of virtual infrastructure customization, management and optimization.
5. Requires in-depth knowledge of the principles and procedures of computer systems, including relational database analysis and design.

7. Requires knowledge of virtualization market landscape and dynamics.
8. Requires knowledge of server lifecycle management.
9. Requires specialized knowledge with configuring and troubleshooting networking equipment such as routers and switches.
10. Requires a working knowledge of host computer database management system concepts, methodologies, analysis, and design.
11. Requires specialized knowledge of virtualization design techniques and host computer logical and physical database structures and relationships, including those for networked microcomputer systems.
12. Requires in-depth knowledge of virtualization planning, program development standards, procedures, tools, and documentation requirements.
13. Requires excellent communication in business and technical writing skills for conveying technical concepts and information to a varied audience of technical skills and abilities.
14. Requires ability to manage, design, and deploy infrastructure and systems in a cloud-based environment.

Abilities 1. Requires the ability to perform the essential responsibilities and functions of the position. Must be able to perform a full range of IT virtualization systems analysis and related programming duties.
2. Requires the ability to develop, install, configure, and troubleshoot virtualization application software.
3. Requires the ability to load and configure virtualized environments as well as server operating systems.
4. Must be able to analyze and evaluate the needs of users and develop the most effective program or solution to meet those needs.

6. Requires the ability to support large and complex systems and network installations. Ability to manage the design, deployment, operations and migration of virtualization solution lifecycles.
7. Must know how to operate the computers, operating systems, peripherals, and other equipment used by the District and colleges for information retrieval, storage, analysis, and processing.
8. Requires the ability to write basic SQL extensions to access a relational database and library and lexical functions.
9. Requires the ability to design virtualization database structure and relationships, including those for computer and network systems.
10. Requires the ability work independently and collaboratively, follow logical progressions of program systems and to think logically, creatively, and in abstract terms.
11. Requires the ability to analyze and solve technical problems under extreme time pressure.

Education and Experience The position typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline and six (6) years of related experience in virtualization technologies. Alternatively, the position may accept an Associate's Degree and 10 years of progressive virtualization experience. Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required equivalent qualifications for the position. Preferred Degree(s): Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline. Required Field of Expertise: six (6) years of related experience in virtualization technologies.

Conditions of Employment Note: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment VISA at this time. Sabbatical Leaves Faculty members are encouraged to pursue professional growth leading to the development of increased competence and the improvement of instruction and/or redirection in their current teaching discipline. The District's sabbatical leave program is designed to assist in this pursuit and is available on a semester basis after completing six consecutive years of service.
Academic Senate The Academic Senate is the governing body at each of our colleges for making recommendations to administration and to our Board of Trustees with respect to academic and professional matters. The Senate consists of elected faculty and has the responsibility for matters related to curriculum and general academic policy.
Time to Refuel Vacation
Classified, contract staff earn vacation days commensurate with years of service. Classified Management and Administrators earn 22 days vacation per year.
Sick Leave All contract employees earn sick leave as outlined in the CA Education Code. Sick leave may be carried over from year-to-year and, upon retirement, unused sick leave may contribute to your PERS and STRS retiree benefit.
Holidays The District observes 21 paid holidays per year.
Jury Duty, Bereavement, Military Leave Coast grants contract employees called to jury duty a leave of absence, without loss of pay, for the entire length of required service. Other available leaves include bereavement from 3-5 days and military leaves of absence in accordance with applicable state laws.
Great Expectations
Pension Plans The District participates in the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS) and the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) for contract employees. Non-contract employees participate in Public Agency Retirement Services (PARS) plan for the first 1,000 hours of their employment.
Additionally, it is the policy of the Coast Community College District that contract employees who retire from the District with ten or more years of service be afforded the same group insurance benefits until 70 years of age. A Medicare Supplement or GAP plan is available to retirees and their spouses after age 70.
Annuities The District maintains a program whereby qualified employees may request through Payroll to have a portion of his or her salary deposited under a tax sheltered annuity plan or an approved deferred compensation plan.
Schools First Federal Credit Union The Schools First Federal Credit Union is a federally insured, full service, financial cooperative that is a not-for-profit organization. Earnings are used to benefit all members to provide a full range of financial services and offerings.
