SUMMARY:
The Import/Export Logistics Coordinator will manage international customer orders and act as a liaison to ensure smooth and complete transactions. This role includes but is not limited to, planning and executing SNF's logistics processes, dispatching, tracking, and managing shipment bookings, maintaining records and costs, keeping accurate documentation, identifying risks and opportunities, and interacting with freight agents. The coordinator will gain knowledge and expertise of each customer’s requirements and implement changes to streamline processes. This position reports directly to the Import/Export Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Proactively manage international orders, including executing required import and export functions and logistics processes within SOP-specified time frames, such as vessel bookings, drayage dispatch, cost record maintenance, sending ISF and commercial documents to brokers, and providing inbound carrier nominations.
Work with brokers, freight forwarders, NVOs, and other freight agents to execute vessel bookings. Create shipment tenders and documents using SNF’s ERP system, dispatch according to current routing guides, and ensure all data is entered correctly and accurately.
Timely process of importing air and ocean documents and submit to customs brokers for filing.
Collaborate closely with Customer Service, Purchasing, Supply Chain Planning, Plant Production, and Shipping to ensure orders are ready for shipment and loaded on time, avoiding demurrage charges.
Follow up with external freight agents to ensure correct equipment availability, troubleshoot and promptly resolve booking or carrier issues, and set standards for future orders.
Coordinate directly with suppliers and freight agents domestically and internationally to track shipments and ensure timely delivery to the correct destination. Expedite critically needed shipments.
Audit invoices for completeness, corroborate contract pricing and verify storage and demurrage charges. Work with AP to resolve any discrepancies and delayed payments.
Identify risks and opportunities to ensure cost-effective, safe, and efficient transportation of the company’s products.
Assist in carrier rate management by updating new rate schedules in rate management software, requesting quotes for new shipping lanes, and managing the contract repository.
Perform prompt and accurate data entry requests into various internal ERP systems.
Provide support during contract reviews, negotiations, and RFPs through research, data collection, and manipulation.
Develop and manage successful relationships with external freight agents, business partners, and co-workers.
Participate in meetings with carriers, external freight agents, brokers, and business partners.
Provide backup to other Logistics Coordinators as required.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in Logistics or other Business disciplines.
3 to 5 years’ experience in logistics, trucking, and ocean freight.
Knowledge and experience in multi-modal logistics – bulk truck, bulk rail, van, flatbed, LTL, and intermodal transportation preferred.
General computer proficiency and experience in ERP and MS Office software applications, including MS Word and MS Excel are required.
Work well under pressure in a team environment or individually.
Ability to think critically through the multiple-step processes and follow details.
