We are seeking an HR Assistant that can provide administrative assistance to the HR staff with regards to HR related processes, initiatives and projects. This position will report to the VP of Human Resources but will collaborate with many different departments within the organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with scheduling of meetings, answer phone inquiries, provide HR related forms, answer general questions & direct employees to appropriate HR resource
  • Conduct criminal background checks, motor vehicle record checks, education verifications & drug screens for potential employees
  • Assist onboarding of new hire employees, setup and print employee ID badges, complete new hire paperwork & enter safety training into Learning Management System
  • Track new hire training completion, complete 30-day new hire check-ins and follow-up with managers when training is not completed
  • Assist with organizing/planning company activities (blood drives, company picnic, etc.) including coordinating with providers, creating schedules, assisting at events
  • Assist with Employee Recognition programs, secure awards, place orders, prepare certificates, and distribute birthday & anniversary awards
  • Process employee termination/resignations
  • Create company correspondence and coordinate various employee mailings
  • Post internal announcements in digital and paper format
  • Assist with coordination of training activities between departments and external training providers
  • Work with & support departments to organize & develop training documents, such as handouts or visual materials
  • Expected to be flexible & responsive to the needs of the both the HR department personnel as well as the BUS employees
  • Expected to keep a high level of confidentiality as this position is exposed to HR related topics
  • Perform various other HR duties as directed
  • Works office schedule with flexibility to work overtime or whenever required
  • Must be willing to work hours outside of the normal schedule (late night or earlier morning hours) as needed to meet with external training providers and onboard new hires

Job Requirements

  • 2-year degree or higher in an HR related field is preferred
  • HR experience providing customer service to employees & providers while supporting various HR functions in an industrial manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Prior experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) is helpful
  • Knowledge of business principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, production methods, & coordination of people & resources
  • Knowledge of administrative & clerical procedures or systems such as word-processing, filing, records management, forms design
  • Understanding of the policies & practices involved in human resource functions
  • Microsoft Office Suite
