GUIDE TRAINEE, HISTORICAL MONUMENT (SEASONAL) – CAPITAL DISTRICT / CALIFORNIA STATE CAPITOL MUSEUM

"Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKS program.  Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKS recipient in the comments area on the application.  Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKS eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub.  If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. The primary reporting location for this position is the State Capitol Museum located in the California State Capitol building at 1315 10th Street in Sacramento. This position will work under the direction of the Guide II, Historical Monument, Supervisors.  

The position is primarily responsible for guiding tours, providing visitor services, setting up and monitoring special events, and other duties as needed.  Will be responsible for interpretation of the California State Capitol, which represents a blend of California’s past, present and future.  Will be responsible for developing and conducting their own guided tours.  Additionally, the Guide Trainee will be required to monitor and check-in school groups and function as a rover, providing information to the general public or assisting other staff members. Tour groups include the general public, school groups, adult groups, and legislative guests and dignitaries.  The incumbent’s work schedule will be varied days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., unless otherwise requested, and will include weekends and some holidays.

This position may work up to 1500 hours per year/in a 12 consecutive month period.

Special Requirements
