Graphic Artist

BB&E is a full service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the Federal and Industrial sectors throughout the United States. BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering and Program/Project Management Services to Federal and private sectors.

Position Summary

BB&E is seeking a creative and highly skilled Graphic Artist to join our team to deliver high-quality graphic designs and visual content to the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Caribbean District (South Atlantic Division [SAA]) in Puerto Rico which is responsible for managing the planning, design, and construction of Civil Works, Military and Interagency and International Support (IIS) Projects throughout the Caribbean region. The Graphic Artist will work closely with USACE to create visually compelling materials that communicate project goals and support outreach and operational initiatives

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Graphic Design & Development
    1. Produce professional-grade graphic designs for digital and print materials, including but not limited to advertisements, brochures, banners, social media posts, website graphics, logos, infographics, posters, and PowerPoint presentations
    2. Design visual content for technical reports, proposals, and project documentation, ensuring clarity and alignment with project objectives
    3. Develop creative concepts that effectively communicate complex information in a visually engaging manner
  • Branding & Compliance
    1. Ensure all designs adhere to USACE branding guidelines, including typography, color palettes, logos, and overall style
    2. Regularly update design templates to reflect changes in project requirements or branding standards
    3. Maintain consistency in visual assets across various projects and deliverables
  • Collaboration & Communication
    1. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and communications teams to understand project goals and translate them into compelling visuals
    2. Collaborate with the Outreach Team to design promotional materials for events, community engagement, and stakeholder meetings
    3. Present design concepts and incorporate feedback to refine and enhance deliverables
  • Motion Graphics & Video Editing
    1. Create motion graphics, animations, or video content for presentations, social media, or promotional campaigns
    2. Edit and optimize video content for clarity, branding, and engagement
  • Administrative & Organizational Tasks
    1. Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritizing deadlines and deliverables
    2. Maintain an organized archive of digital and print assets for future use
    3. Stay updated on design trends and tools to enhance creative processes
Key Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a NACI/CAC is required
  • Knowledge and Competencies
    1. Strong understanding of design principles, including typography, color theory, composition, and layout
    2. Ability to produce high-quality, error-free designs
    3. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
    4. Openness to expanding skill sets, particularly in motion graphics and video editing
    5. Knowledge of cultural sensitivities and norms within the Caribbean region to enhance design relevance and engagement is preferred
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences; bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish to enhance collaboration with diverse teams in the Caribbean region is preferred
  • Software
    1. Proficiency using MS Office software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; proficiency in graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) is required
    2. Experience with motion graphics, animation, or video editing software such as After Effects or Premiere Pro is preferred
    3. Familiarity with web design tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, or similar platforms is preferred
  • Self-Starter: Highly motivated, with the ability to take initiative and manage multiple tasks and deadlines autonomously
Experience & Education
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field with proven experience producing materials for both print and digital platforms is required; experience with branding and design guidelines for federal agencies or large organizations is preferred
  • Education: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Fine Arts, or a related field from an ABET accredited university is required
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand/walk/climb/kneel/crouch and remain in a stationary position/sit at least 60% of the time
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including computer, copy machine, phone, etc.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms
  • Capable of lifting up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away
  • Ability to understand the speech of another person, speak clearly so listeners can understand, and talk or hear both in person and by telephone
