ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assist in the growth (seeding, transplanting, watering, pest maintenance, and weeding), harvesting, and packing of vegetables, fruits, berries, and herbs.

- Farm assistant will have a teachable and respectful attitude - more ready to ask questions than offer judgments.
- Farm Assistant will stay focused and active on designated tasks unless taking a designated break as outlined in the Employee handbook and Farm Manager.
- Farm Assistant will be ready to work at 8:00 a.m. and quit work at 4:00 p.m.

- Perform farm tasks safely and effectively.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: - Perform farm tasks safely and effectively.
- Assist with the fertilizing, planting, spraying, cultivating and harvesting of crops.
- Assist with maintaining and monitoring the quality of crop yields.
- Assist with diagnosing any crop problems (disease, insect, weeds, or soil problems)
- Assist with maintenance and repair of farm buildings, machinery and equipment.
- Maintain a knowledge of pests and diseases and an understanding of how they spread and how to treat them.

- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills

Prior experience in the natural and organic food industry a plus but not required. Must be enthusiastic, self-motivated and organized.
- Previous farming background/experience, a MUST.
- Experience working with row crops a plus.
- Good communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to work flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to walk or stand for eight or more hours per day, sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, push, pull and lift items weighing 40-50 pounds.
