Job Description

The New Jersey Attorney General's Office is looking for EEO Investigators to join its Office of Equal Employment Opportunity. These positions will be located in Trenton, NJ. The salary for these positions will fall within the range of $57,420.37 to $81,196.66. Salary offered is non-negotiable and will fall within the range posted.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

The Attorney General has broad oversight of the state’s legal and law enforcement matters. As the head of the Department of Law & Public Safety, the Attorney General supervises a wide range of Divisions, Offices, and Commissions, consisting of over 2,800 sworn law enforcement officers, 600 attorneys, and thousands of other public servants.

ABOUT THE DIVISION:

The Division of Administration (DOA) serves as the foundation of resources and support for the Department of Law and Public Safety (LPS), ensuring seamless and efficient operations. With a wide range of responsibilities, DOA oversees budget operations, compliance, equal employment opportunity and ethics, constituent services, fiscal management, grant administration, human resources, information technology, and facilities management. DOA also contains a general counsel’s office that provides legal support to the division and LPS on administrative matters.

By diligently managing both day-to-day operations and long-term objectives, DOA plays a crucial role in achieving LPS goals and delivering high quality services to both staff and constituents.

ABOUT THE OFFICE OF EEO:

The Office of EEO embodies the Department’s commitment to the principle that all of its employees and applicants for employment deserve to be treated fairly and given an equal opportunity to succeed in the workplace. In furtherance of this mission, the Office of EEO takes appropriate action with regard to allegations that implicate the New Jersey State Policy Prohibiting Discrimination in the Workplace, N.J.A.C. 4A:7-3.1 (“EEO Policy”).

The EEO Policy is a zero-tolerance policy; the Department will take appropriate corrective measures, including discipline if necessary, to address conduct that violates the EEO Policy regardless of whether the conduct satisfies the legal definition of discrimination or harassment.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Under direction of the Director, Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), or other supervisory official

  • The investigator will perform confidential internal Departmental investigations.
  • Investigate matters from other State Departments where a conflict may exist.
  • Provide EEO training to Department employees.
  • Defend discrimination appeals, and
  • Assist senior management in arriving at practical solutions to foster a professional and productive workplace; perform other duties as required.
  • Does other related work as required.
  • This position may also require travel between office locations and non-traditional work hours, on an as needed basis, including evenings on short deadlines for certain assignments, with or without advance notice, and may require travel to perform the aforementioned responsibilities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Six (6) years of professional experience in the conduct of civil or criminal investigations related to compliance, enforcement, detection, and surveillance activity, including the preparation of investigative reports.
  • OR Six (6) years of professional experience in the conduct of investigative administrative audits and/or regulatory examinations of records maintained by businesses and organizations.
  • OR Six (6) years of professional experience in the conduct of investigations for the government, the military, consumer protection programs, public advocacy organizations, or the public interest.
  • OR Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and two (2) years of the above-mentioned professional experience.
  • OR Possession of a juris doctorate or a master's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Business Administration, Law, or a related field; and one (1) year of the above-mentioned professional experience.
