Job Description

Summary

The U.S. Secret Service is seeking a Deputy Workforce Wellness Officer to support the direction and vision of the executive level Wellness Officer. This position will manage and direct a staff of program managers and support staff in the strategic and tactical development and improvement of employee wellness and workforce programs.

Duties

The selectee will serve as a Deputy Workforce Wellness Officer in the Office of Human Resources. Typical work assignments include:
  • Managing Secret Service's programs that facilitate and support employee wellness and workforce engagement, such as, the Employee Assistance Program, Peer Support Program, Psychological Armor Program, Veteran and Military Resources Program, Workforce Care Program, Chaplain Program and Special Emphasis Program.
  • Managing the staff responsible for the Employee Wellness and Workforce Care programs, by reviewing and assigning work, completing performance appraisals, making recommendations for awards and promotions, and resolving employee complaints and group grievances.
  • Identifying training and developmental needs to improve production and increase the quality of the Secret Service's wellness programs.
  • Establishing guidelines and implementing initiatives for Employee Wellness and Workforce Care programs to ensure goals and objectives are consistent and meet measurable performance criteria.
  • Serving as a Deputy Workforce Wellness Officer to executive leadership on establishing protocols and implementing strategic plans to support employee wellness and workforce care program objectives.

Qualifications

To be considered qualified for this position you must meet the following qualification requirements for the respective grade level in which you are applying.

You qualify for the GS-15 level (starting salary $163,964.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-15 level performing duties such as:
  • Providing guidance to senior executives on policy matters related to employee wellness and workforce care programs (i.e. Employee Assistance Program, Workforce Care Program, Peer Support Program, Chaplain Program, and Psychological Armor Program).
  • Conducting assessments and evaluating program objectives to improve operational functions.
  • Implementing strategies and interpreting data derived from various sources to various wellness programs accomplishments.
  • Planning, leading, and coordinating the work of subordinates and managing day-to-operations.
Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to current competitive service employees applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50, "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). You may need to submit more than one SF-50 to comply.
