CASA & CASA IN ACTION SYNOPSIS: CASA's mission is to create a more just society by building power and improving the quality of life in working class and immigrant communities. Our vision is a future where we stand in our own power, our families live free from discrimination and fear, and our diverse communities thrive as we work with our partners to achieve full human rights for all. CASA has a sister organization, CASA in Action, a separate, but related, nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. Although CASA and CASA in Action share a common goal of supporting immigrants and low-income people in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, they are separate organizations with their own board of directors. A set of employees at the two organizations, including the person filling this position, shares their time between the two organizations. This has no effect on salary or benefits.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Climate Justice Training Manager will design and implement climate justice popular education curriculum for CASA members, organizers, and other staff or allies in both Spanish and English. They will work with the Director of Community Leadership and the Chief of Organizing to design both general training content as well as campaign-specific training and educational materials as well as content to support climate justice campaigns, including for use in person, on paper, and via digital media. All content and materials should be reflective of CASA mission, vision, and values, and actively demonstrate our organizational commitment to antiracism and gender equity. The Climate Justice Training Manager may also support coalition and campaign work on climate justice and related issues as part of a multidisciplinary campaign team.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties may include, but are not limited to, some of the following which are discussed and prioritized by the employee and supervisor, and reflected in individual and program annual workplans: - Develop and maintain a foundational climate justice training curriculum using popular education methodology and facilitate ongoing train the trainer sessions to ensure that all member activists, organizers, staff, and board members are grounded in common language and ideology regarding climate justice and its relation to CASA's mission, vision, and values.
- Develop climate justice curricula and training materials in support of CASA's local, state, and national climate justice campaigns.
- Develop additional informational materials to support climate justice campaigns, in collaboration with organizing, communications, and policy team members.
- Serve as part of an interdisciplinary team supporting CASA's climate justice work, including work with external coalitions, funders, researchers, and other partners.
- Work with data and evaluation team to create evaluation instrument to track and measure intended outcomes and impact of all training programs.
- Support Director of Community Leadership in creation and implementation of broader political education and campaign materials to support existing or new organizing campaigns and issue priorities.
- Track, analyze and synthesize outcomes of leadership development program
- Support outreach and logistics for both internal and external trainings including member trainings, train the trainer workshops, partner convenings, and web-based or video trainings
- Ensuring program and grant deliverables are collected and reported upon accurately and in a timely manner
- Supervise staff, personnel, volunteers and consultants; ensuring that professional development opportunities are provided and all HR policies are followed
- Development and maintenance of relationships with key national, state, and local partners.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: - Minimum of two years of experience in climate justice organizing, popular education, or other progressive movement work.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Education, or related field in program or curriculum design preferred.
- Valid US driver's license and reliable vehicle.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: - Passion for Climate or Environmental Justice
- Deep commitment to Antiracism and Gender Equity.
- Familiarity with pedagogical theory and curriculum design
- Experience in facilitating in person and digital trainings
- Excellent writing and speaking skills in English and Spanish required, additional languages a plus
- Must be efficient at communicating effectively orally and in writing; establishing cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple ongoing projects;
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Willing to travel regularly to support CASA teams in MD, VA, PA, and other states, as well as occasionally to support external partners
- Passion, idealism, progressive and pro-immigrant is a must. Integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
- Deep knowledge of the organizing, policy and social justice culture and landscape
- Cultural agility and experience with grounding work in an anti-oppressive lens
- Large scale event planning experience is a plus
