How You Will Make an Impact: The Catering Cook works closely with our Chefs to prepare dishes and meals from scratch for off-premises catering events and actively participates at these events, assisting with food presentation and managing action stations. Some typical tasks include:
- Preparing a wide range of dishes according to set recipes, including hors d'oeuvres, entrees, side dishes, desserts, and special dietary items.
- Travel to off-premises events (most weekends during the busy seasons) to assist with setup, plating food, and action stations (carving, sandwiches, etc.)
- May occasionally fill in as a Line Cook in a restaurant setting.
- Clean, set up, and break down kitchen equipment, appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functionality.
- Cover, label, and date all food products, and follow all food safety rules for proper storage.
- Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other cooking equipment, as needed.
- Work in accordance with food safety and safety guidelines.
What You Bring to the Table: - Previous experience as a cook in a catering or banquet setting preferred
- Proficient in various cooking techniques and styles
- Open to ongoing skill enhancement and learning
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Neat and professional appearance
- Be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Flexible scheduling on weekdays and weekends
- Reliable method of transportation to event venues across the greater Richmond area
