JOB SUMMARY:
Will join the Lendlease Smithsonian team providing owner-representative services to plan and manage museum construction projects, especially including historical preservation portions, on behalf of the OPDC Architectural History and Historic Preservation Office client.
Full-time onsite role at the Smithsonian office in downtown DC (600 Maryland Ave SW, Washington DC 20024). Will regularly travel to nearby museums. Parking is provided as well as is conveniently located near mass transit.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work anticipated to be performed. It is not a complete list of all that may be required.
- Work with OPDC facilities AHHP preservation staff to provide construction and administrative support for projects. This will include site observation, conservation reports, field reports, scheduling meetings, tracking responses, preparing and distributing meeting notes, administering DropBox and Teams sites, obtaining, analyzing, and preparing relevant documents, PowerPoint presentations, etc., to assist the Smithsonian Institute Historic Preservation Contracting Officer's Technical Representative.
- Support OPDC Historic Preservation COTR for architectural conservation and technical preservation projects in coordinating with outside Architectural and Engineering (AE) consultants in the performance of their work.
- Collaborate with OPDC, AHHP, and planning staff members in the preparation of public-facing documents as part of the Section 106 review and DC External Agency review processes. Post documents to AHHP's website, in conformance with ADA 508 compliance.
- Assist in assembling and preparing deliverables and reports, including distribution within Smithsonian Institute.
- Research files as needed for issue resolution and back-checking reports.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated understanding of conservation of historic materials through site-specific preservation projects.
- Experience working with historic preservation regulations at the municipal, state, or federal levels.
- Experience with historic preservation construction projects.
- Experience with architectural history research and writing of reports.
- Familiarity with museum designs and cultural institutions, such as the Smithsonian, desired.
- Must be able to perform administrative duties including but not limited to note-taking, document management, and scheduling.
- Ability to use DropBox, Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Suite. AutoCAD drawing skills and GIS would be a plus but are not required.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively within a team, and ability to work independently required.
- Bachelor's degree in materials conservation, architecture, historic preservation, or other design/construction related major, with an emphasis on skills relevant to architectural history and historic preservation.
Base Salary Range: $92,000 - $116,000
The above salary range represents Lendlease's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible base compensation range at the time of posting and is one part of the total rewards Lendlease provides to employees. The base compensation amount offered to a successful candidate will be decided based on a range of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skillset, and education level.
