Position Summary: As an AmeriCorps Family Navigator, it will be your job to utilize the tools provided to assist clients with benefits, applications, and other services as well as track Fresh Food Box distribution in Charity Tracker and the One Box system. This position is a vital role to FoodShare Berkeley County as you will be responsible for tracking Fresh Food Boxes and reimbursement protocols (via Healthy Bucks) to support the cost of the program. Food equity is the main goal of FoodShare. This is an ideal role for someone who is passionate about finding solutions, helping all clients with respect and compassion.

Essential Functions:

  1. Customer In-Take Assessments and Referrals
    • Assess client needs in one-on-one consultation.
    • Conduct one-on-one assessments with clients using information from an in-take form.
    • Provide overview of available services and procedures for utilizing services
    • Promote education sessions and refer interested individuals for sign-up in Prosperity Centers and in partner agency sites as appropriate
  2. Client benefits, applications, and documentation
    • Help clients with other resources related to Food access needs .
    • Provide clients with Charity Tracker Information for Food Pickup Days.
    • Explain FoodShare and sign participating clients up for Fresh Food Box.
    • Assist clients in signing up for SNAP if applicable.
3. FoodShare Berkeley Program Tracking
    • Log all participants in Charity Tracker
    • Ensure all SNAP participants are following proper protocol.
    • Assist with Healthy Bucks Reimbursement Logs
    • Track satisfactory experience and health improvement efforts among clients.

Additional Responsibilities
    • Provide high quality customer service to assist individuals in need with accessing work supports (i.e., public benefits), referrals and other resources that help families become financially stable.
    • Must maintain strict customer, staff and partner confidentiality for all personal information and documentation.
    • Must not display different treatment either intentionally, by neglect, or by actions or lack of action based on a protected class.

Training Responsibilities:
    • Healthy Bucks and SNAP Training
    • One Box Training (FoodShare ordering System)
Required Skills:
    • Ability to do some physical activities at work (i.e., lifting boxes or carrying boxes out to a car).
Member Benefits-DURING A YEAR OF SERVICE

All members will have access to the Member Assistance Program (MAP), and federal student loan forbearance during the term. Upon successful completion of a service term, members are eligible for 
payment of accrued interest on eligible federal loans, and an education award ranging from $1,459-$4,826 which can be used toward continued education or student loan repayment. Members will also receive mileage reimbursement, skill-building opportunities, and robust monthly professional development training.
